Without getting too hopeful, there’s another chance coming up for anime to get on UK TV, thanks to Sony.

OFCOM have just granted a license for the Anime+ channel from Sony subsidiary AXN Europe. While AXN has rolled out successfully across Europe - with strong showings in Spain, Italy and Germany - a look at their schedules doesn’t reveal a whole lot of anime content, instead focusing on live-action drama shows like Criminal Minds and CSI.

That said, with the fairly blatant “Anime+” title of the channel, and its content listed as “animation”, it seems a safe bet that this channel will have at least some Sony-licensed Japanese animation, like Blood+ for instance, on its schedules somewhere. As long as the channel ever makes it to the airwaves.
