Anime+ update
After last week’s discovery of Sony’s OFCOM license for a new animation channel, anime fans across the UK have been looking forward to the new Anime+ network. Unfortunately, I just got some bad news back from Sony’s public contact for Anime+ on the OFCOM site - while the Anime+ channel will be breadcast from the UK, it’s not going to be available to TV viewers here.
Thank you for your email regarding the proposed Anime + channel. Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) has received an OFCOM license to broadcast it’s global anime channel brand from the UK to it’s distributors (cable/satellite) in Central Europe. This service is not presently available to UK viewers. We appreciate your interest in our channel and will update you through the press at such time as the service may be launched in the UK.
There’s still some hope that the channel will turn up here eventually, but not in the forseeable future.
