Catch-up: TV

Given the last month of non-activity, I’ve fallen quite far behind in news. To remedy that, I’ll be posting a couple of catch-up articles that group together various stories with similar themes. This is the first of these, which’ll cover anime on TV.

Rapture TV had a bit of a falling-out with BSkyB in September, which resulted in the channel’s temporary removal from the official Sky EPG. Sky backed down following a huge response from Rapture fans, but Rapture are continuing to pursue the matter with Ofcom, the British communications regulator.

Sticking with Rapture for the moment, the channel have also announced Anime Nation, an anime-related magazine series. Anime UK News have an interview with the series’ producer, Jason Wiltshire, and there’s a preview of an exclusive Monica Rial interview up for viewing on YouTube.

And the final Rapture nugget for now - the channel has apparently begun airing adverts for Elfen Lied and FullMetal Panic? Fumoffu. Chances are good that they’ll be replacing Mezzo DSA and FullMetal Alchemist when those series’ finish.

As for terrestrial viewers, it’s been announced at the official site that Oban Star Racers, a French/Japanese co-production currently airing on Jetix, will be appearing on GMTV at some point in the future. No concrete details have been announced yet.
