Sony’s PlayStation 3 has sold out in Japan, with a total of 88,400 machines leaving shelves according to unofficial figures in Famitsu.

The top-selling games were Ridge Racer 7 and Gundam: Target In Sight with 30,000 units sold each.

The PlayStation 3 is “on target” to launch in Europe early next year.
