Live-action DBZ to get off the ground in Canada
It’s a rumour almost as old as the show itself: a big-budget Hollywood movie based on Akira Toriyama’s runaway success, Dragonball Z. There have been numerous studios attached to the project at one time or another, but things always seemed to run out of steam before anything concrete was announced or anybody got signed to the project.
Well, it looks like 20th Century Fox has finally given the project a green light - with a budget rumoured to be over nine thousand dollars (actually $100m), shooting will begin on the live-action anime adaptation in Montreal “shortly”. There’s no indication, in the Montreal Gazette article that kicked off this story, who will be directing or starring in the film, so don’t expect any big names to be attached to the project.
